Global Drum & Bass Icon Sub Focus Is Heading to Beats for Love Winter 2026!
British producer and DJ Sub Focus has been one of the most prominent figures in global drum & bass for more than two decades. Nick Douwma, as he is known off stage, began releasing music at the start of the new millennium and gradually worked his way up from the UK underground scene to become one of the biggest names in electronic music. His sound is defined by precise production, strong melodies and an energy that works just as well in clubs as it does on the world’s biggest festival stages.
Throughout his career, he has released a number of tracks that have become staples of modern drum & bass. Among his best-known releases are “Tidal Wave”, “Turn Back Time”, “Solar System”, “Desire” with Dimension and “Ready to Fly”, another collaboration with Dimension. Another major chapter in his career came with “Portals”, the collaborative album with Wilkinson, which topped the UK Dance Albums Chart in 2020.
In 2023, he released the album “Evolve”, once again showcasing his ability to push his signature sound forward while blending drum & bass with other sides of electronic music. The album was also highly successful within the D&B community and won Best Album at the Drum&BassArena Awards 2023. Two years later, Sub Focus followed it up with his fourth solo album, “Contact”, featuring collaborations with artists including Grimes, John Summit, Katy B, Subsonic and Emily Makis.
A major part of the current Sub Focus era is also WORSHIP, a project he shares with other key names in British drum & bass – Dimension, Culture Shock and 1991. In recent years, the four artists have played a major role in expanding drum & bass across the North American market, taking their shows to increasingly larger arenas and iconic venues. One of their biggest milestones came in October 2025, when WORSHIP sold out the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and performed the venue’s first-ever drum & bass headline show.
This combination of an outstanding solo career, award-winning studio work and the WORSHIP project highlights just how important Sub Focus remains on the global electronic music scene today. DJ Mag also named him the No. 1 drum & bass artist of 2024, further confirming his position at the very top of the genre.
